When Playtech creates a new game, it usually guarantees one thing: big money. Well, we’re happy to report that Eliminators got the memo and can be worth staggering amounts of cash! With enormous wager amounts, several inventive bonus rounds and plenty of swagger and cool animations, Eliminators has a lot to offer players.
It’s an extremely high-variance game (we worked up to $60,000 virtual balance, and then lost it all again within minutes) but it’s great fun, and you won’t be able to take your eyes off the screen!
Step inside the octagon and fight for your life against 5 martial arts champions. But, win the crowd’s favour and showcase your fighting chops, and you could be in for the win of a lifetime…
Gameplay Overview & Symbols
Eliminators makes use of Playtech’s Collapsing Reels technology, where symbols fall onto the reels with a crash, rather than than spinning slowly to a stop as per the classic design. The game is set within a huge sports arena, and the reel themselves sit inside the Octagon, a cage used for MMA fighting.
The game’s basic mechanics are simple: there are 20 paylines, and if you land 3+ counts of one symbol on any of the paylines, then you trigger a payout. The highest paying symbols are the martial artists themselves. Master Chan, the guy with the long white beard, is worth 25x your stake for 5 on a payline. Of course, the game’s wild can be used to fill the blanks and help generate these big wins – especially if you wager anywhere near the game’s maximum of $500!
Whenever a winning combination is found, those symbols explode into rubble, and new symbols fall from the sky to fill the void. If this leads to new winning combinations, then the cycle repeats: these “respins” (which they are, more or less) continue until there are no new winning combinations.
You’ll notice there are five little circles to the left of the reels; these are our martial artists: Tank, Master Chan, Typhoon Terry, Joe the Hurricane, and Violet. When you hit a winning combo with any of their symbols, their corresponding circle is shaded out and they’re “eliminated”. During the respins, if you can eliminate all 5 competitors, you access the bonus round!
Very simple, just choose a mystery bonus token: you’ll get between 2 and 40x your stake!
What players are really hankering for, however, is access to the free spins rounds. These are exceedingly tricky to activate (it’s only 3 symbols and I’ve been playing all day for goodness’ sake!) but once you’re in, you’re in.
It’s theoretically quite simple: you land 3, 4, or 5 bonus symbols during one spin, and it’s game time. Once there, you get a choice:
- Blue spins – You will get 10, 21 or 40 spins (for 3, 4 and 5 bonus symbols respectively) and will play on a slightly adapted reel set than the base game! It is designed to make wins more probable, but you don’t get the added benefit of increasing multipliers as you do with red spins.
- Red spins – These are more volatile, promising bigger rewards and a smaller chance of success. You’ll get 12, 25 or 50 spins, and collapsing wins will increase the multiplier from 2x, to 3x, 5x, and 10x. Even better, you can retrigger more free spins as the bonus symbols remain in play!
All in all, this is one of the more addictive games we’ve seen in recent times. There’s such massive potential for wins that it is genuinely disheartening when two bonus symbols never become 3. We probably did over 2,000 spins without triggering a 3rd bonus symbol, just in case you needed a reminder of how volatile the game is.
If you’re looking for something fun, and potentially highly rewarding, we recommend Eliminators wholeheartedly.
