Fruit Blox is a sort-of modernisation of a classic game: similar look, different mechanics, and an unusual bonus round! All in, we’d rate Fruit Blox higher than your average classic-style game, if only become it’s substantially less boring! The game has wilds, bonuses, stacked symbols – everything you need for a fun, and hopefully lucrative, stint at the reels.
There’s all the neon lights and electric buzzing of classic slots, but also a little more character. The slot aims to be simple and understated, not basic and poorly-built!
Gameplay Overview & Symbols
With the betting capped at a fairly low $10/spin, high-rolling players might immediately turn elsewhere for their fix. However, given the very real chance of earning hundreds of times your stake, you might not want to disappear so quickly!
The simple 6×4 reel setup looks innocuous enough to start with, but then when the symbols get involved everything gets a bit more interesting! The symbols themselves (cherries, lemons, oranges, plums, grapes, bars, bells, stars and 7s) aren’t terribly interesting, but their size is certainly intriguing!
Players can land massive oversized symbols, covering a 2×2 grid on the reels. If two giant blocks land one next to the other, the payout is doubled! That’s how it works in this game: adjacency pays! That means you can get excited about overloading a few reels and not be worried about missing that keystone in the middle.
In addition to the slightly unusual base game, there’s a free spins round to gorge yourself on! While it’s relatively difficult to trigger (as is the case with most Red Tiger games) it can pay extremely well if your luck is in!
There are giant “free spins” blocks which can land at any point during play, and, naturally, they activate the bonus round. You earn 1 free spin for every individual bonus symbol; for example, a 2×2 bonus symbol awards 4 spins. If you land multiple free spin symbols adjacent to one another, however, your usual spin allowance is doubled!
At the start of the round, one random symbol is selected to be special. Whenever this lands it will automatically transform into a wild, leading to meaty payouts.
While there’s nothing exceptional in terms of graphics or innovation, Fruit Blox does offer a huge amount compared to most classic-style games – especially in terms of the free spins round. The music is a bit jazzy and electronic, but it’s the kind of game you can mute and play with your favourite Spotify playlist. Worth a go!
