Netent isn’t known for producing low-quality slots, and that reputation isn’t going to start growing today! Swipe and Roll is one of the funkiest, fun, and moreish slots we’ve seen in some time. For start, they’ve used a real song in their soundtrack (the world-famous “Johnny B. Goode”) which means players aren’t jamming cotton buds in their ears after 30 seconds of play.
With up to 27x your stake available during the base game (check out our discussion of the “x3 wilds” further on) and up to 216x during the bonus game, there is a lot to look forward to. So, without further ado, let’s jump right in!
If you’ve ever seen Back to the Future, then you know what this slot is all about: edgy diners, sweet guitar riffs, and flashing lights. It’s retro, and tonnes of fun.
How About the Gameplay?
Swipe and Roll entices players straight from the off with its timeless soundtrack, and flawless execution in terms of graphical design. You’d honestly think you were camped out in some 1980’s diner-come-casino. There is even indistinct background noise reminding you that you’re not the only person in the room!
The “spin” button is one of those iconic handles you used to get on candy machines, and this main navigation bar also allows players to vary the paylines and coin value, switch to maximum bet, and access the settings.
In terms of performance, we’ve fallen in love with the x3 wild: acts like any other wild, except it multiplies any winnings by 3x! This appears on reels 2, 3, and 4. The other symbols are all classics, from the bell (scatter) to the watermelon, orange, and playing cards.
Players who manage to land 3x wilds across reels 2, 3, and 4 will trigger a respin, during which all of those wilds will remain locked in place. It’s a one-off feature, but can result in heavy-duty payouts.
There’s also The Coin Wheel. This appears randomly during base gameplay, and spins to reveal one of three prizes:
- Cash prize
- Entry to the bonus game
- Expanded win on the original spin
The bonus game is also triggered by landing 3+ scatters anywhere on the reels, and allows players to win up to 216 times their stake. This, as you can imagine, is not easy to reach. However, it could result in a life-changing win at $1,000 per spin…
Honestly playing Swipe and Roll is just too much fun. There aren’t any free spins, which is a shame, but in every other department Netent has hit the ball out of the park. The design is superb, the music is engaging, and the regularity of wins (at least during our testing) was astonishing. Great work, Netent – we can’t wait for the next one!
