With the FIFA World Cup currently taking place over in Russia, Top Trumps World Football Stars couldn’t have been released at a better time. It’s all about soccer, and features a host of history’s biggest names!
Gameplay Overview & Symbols
World Football Stars opens up with a fine bit of innovation: you get to choose the teams! If you’re a footie (soccer) fan, this is every bit as fun as it sounds. Here are the teams available:
It sounds like the dream world cup quarter finals, as these are the footballing nations of the world. Anyway, the symbols change for each team, with a bunch of that nation’s biggest stars. For example, there’s the legendary Del Piero and Totti for Italy, plus David Beckham and Steven Gerrard rocking the shirts of England!
Long story short, it’s a dream for fans; but how does it perform as a slot? We only tested the demo version, but were quite impressed! Five-of-a-kind wins weren’t uncommon, and wilds seem to feature on almost every spin!
In terms of features, players can gamble on any win (selecting a higher-or-lower card to double your payout) and there’s the unique “Pass the Ball” bonus, which pays out 3x your stake if you manage to land a star player next to the footballs on reels 2 and 4.
Now, what would the world cup be without a major prize to fight for? In this slot, that prize is the free spins round. While the “Pass the Ball” bonus isn’t active during this round, players can now win both ways to try and make the most of their 12 free spins. This round is activated by landing the matching “Free Games” symbols on reels 1 and 5.
Naturally this doesn’t come around too often, but when it does, it is the best possible opportunity for players to rake in the cash.
If you’re not a football fan, then this slot probably isn’t going to do much for you. However, if you do love the Beautiful Game (especially if you can remember the icons of the 90s) then you’re going to love this slot.
Big names, fond memories, and potential pools of cash – what’s not to like?
